Providence Hall seeks a highly skilled and enthusiastic High School Paraprofessional (Special Education) to join our team. As a High School Paraprofessional (Special Education) you provide instructional, behavioral and other support to special education students in the classroom or other areas of the campus, to include one-on-one support for them.

Schedule

8 hours/day on scheduled teaching/working days May need to attend some department, building, and LEA professional development, trainings and meetings

Responsibilities

Prepare the classroom to promote a healthy and safe learning environment for assigned student(s). Ensure classroom safety guidelines are met at all times. Utilize various techniques to be successful with managing assigned student(s). Engage with assigned student(s) to enhance and encourage learning. Assist the teacher(s) in modifying materials to meet specific needs of assigned student(s). Provide basic caregiving duties, support, and encouragement in all aspects of development of assigned student(s). Take necessary precautions to protect assigned student(s). Monitor assigned student(s) in the classroom to minimize distractions and disruptions. Assist students with personal hygiene, diapering/toileting, feeding, etc. as needed. Collaborate with colleagues to support the special education department and school in general. Maintain effective communication channels to ensure a collaborative school community. Actively participate in assigned meetings, professional developments, and other trainings. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Previous experience working with children, especially those with special needs, in an instructional setting preferred. Good organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task. Positive interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to maintain calm in high-stress situations. Willing to effectively problem-solving as needed. Basic knowledge of Google Workspace and its collaboration tools. Capacity to perform all the responsibilities listed in this posting. Must pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal history, and professional references as a condition of employment. Lift up to 25 pounds, traverse school facility, and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
