Position Title
EXL Program Instructor (Part-Time) Reports to: EXLP Site Coordinator BACR Expanded Learning Programs BACR is seeking compassionate, energetic, and reliable individuals to join our Expanded Learning team as EXL Program Instructors. In this role, you will support K–12 students in afterschool and enrichment programs by creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where youth can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. EXL Program Instructors play a vital role in building positive relationships with students, supporting their growth and well-being, and contributing to a strong program culture. Successful candidates are team-oriented educators and mentors who bring enthusiasm, professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to equity and youth development.

Pay rate: $24 - $27 an hour, based on regional grant funding and experience Hours negotiated upon hiring (20 – 30 hours per week, depending on location and need) Up to 15 paid holidays per year Stepping stone into a career in education, leadership, advocacy, social entrepreneurship, and social justice Employee assistance program, dental, vision, wellness program, life insurance, flexible spending account, transit and parking flexible spending accounts for commuting expenses, 403b (Eligibility based on total weekly hours) Qualifications: Must have an a) Associate Degree or higher, or b) 48 college units, or c) pass the Instructional Aide exam Must pass a criminal background check and TB test clearance Must be able to work every day during after-school hours and commit to an academic school year (hire date through mid-June) required for the position. Some will include summer and intersession employment. Must have previous experience working with kids and the ability to independently lead and supervise up to 22 students while playing, doing homework, and implementing enrichment activities. Must be able to communicate openly, professionally, and maintain confidentiality at all times. Must have basic technology & computer skills (Word, Email, Workvivo, Workday, Google Drive, etc.) Will be expected to complete all mandated training (Mandated Reporter, Sexual Harassment, SEL PQA, etc.) Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and be capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time Ability to communicate effectively in English with students and families Basic English reading proficiency to support students' academic development, enrichment offerings, and school day alignment Key Responsibilities Facilitate engaging academic, enrichment, recreation, and social-emotional learning activities for K–12 students Build positive, supportive relationships that foster student belonging, confidence, and engagement Support student behavior using restorative, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices Provide homework assistance and adapt activities to meet diverse learning needs and abilities Create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for students of all backgrounds Supervise and actively engage groups of up to 22 youth during indoor and outdoor activities Collaborate effectively with program staff, school personnel, and families to support student success Maintain accurate attendance, incident reports, and other required program documentation Participate fully in staff meetings, professional development, coaching, and trainings Represent BACR professionally in communication, appearance, and conduct at all times Requirements Ability to work consistently during after-school program hours throughout the school year Successful completion of a criminal background check and TB clearance Completion of Mandated Reporter and other required trainings upon hire Ability to stand, move, supervise activities, and lift/carry up to 25 lbs as needed BACR values staff who lead with: Compassion — building authentic relationships and supporting youth with care Curiosity — continuously learning and improving practice Humility — collaborating respectfully and valuing diverse perspectives Integrity — demonstrating accountability and professionalism Joy — bringing energy, positivity, and purpose to the work Please indicate which school site you are interested.
