eliminating racism empowering women YWCA Lancaster YWCA Lancaster is looking for a full-time Kindergarten WRAP Assistant Teacher, who is an integral part of our team.
The YWCA Lancaster partners with Penn Manor School District to provide before and after school care and wrap-around care to AM Kindergarten students.
Our program hours are 6
15-9 (before school), 11:00-3:30 (WRAP) and 3:15-6:00 (after school). Assistant WRAP teachers will be present daily for WRAP as well as one of the before or after school shifts.
What your day looks like
- Caring for children within the context of the YWCA Lancaster Child Care Manual and DHS Child Care regulations.
- Preparing a suitable physical and nurturing environment for ALL children so that they may grow physically, emotionally, and intellectually.
- Assisting the Lead Teacher in developing lesson plans for activities based on the needs of the children. Areas of concentration include Language Arts, Math, Science, Cognitive Development, Creative Art, Self Help, Motor Activities, and Community Awareness.
- Maintaining a team atmosphere within the room
- Assessing the children in their classroom by using developmental assessments three times per year.
- Maintaining appropriate interactions with children, parents and staff.
- Maintaining a positive atmosphere within the classroom.
- Working cooperatively with the Center Director, staff, and other YWCA employees.
- Staying familiar with all YWCA Lancaster policies and procedures, Child Care Manual procedures and Keystone Stars requirements to ensure program quality.
- Keeping records on children and keeping recorded documentation up to date
- Orienting new parents and staff to room and meeting with parents when needed.
- Attend monthly staff meetings.
- Attend a minimum of 15 hours of training per year.
- Maintain a current Professional Development Record for Keystone Stars.
- Working cooperatively with other YWCA Childcare programs.
- Advocating for Early Childhood Education programs in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Enforce center policies with parents, students, and children.
- Practicing flexibility regarding the staffing needs of the center.
- Uphold and demonstrate the YWCA Mission to all staff, students, parents, and children.
- Ratio must always be maintained. Staff will be required to start shift early and stay past the end of their shift, if necessary, to maintain ratios.
- Participate in at least one mission related activity a year.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma and 15 credit hours in Early Childhood Education or related Social Services field and 1 year work experience related to the care and development of children; or High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma and 30 credit hours in Early Childhood Education or related Social Services field and 2 years work experience related to the care and development of children.
- Must be able to lift 45 lbs. and have movement ability to sit, stand, crawl, climb, lift overhead, bend and move from sitting position on floor to standing position.
