About the role

Deliver quality instruction in Physical Health Education through various modalities while maintaining accurate course materials and syllabi. Provide academic advising to students and participate in departmental and college-wide committees to ensure institutional effectiveness.

Title: Instructor, Physical Health Education – 9/10 month (Term)

Position Summary

This position is a nine-month faculty position responsible for preparing and delivering quality instruction in Physical health Education.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform job duties from the assigned campus/instructional site/work location.

Teach courses on-ground at the assigned campus/instructional site/work location.

Other instructional delivery modes, such as online, hybrid or web-enhanced, taught from the assigned campus/instructional site/work location, may be assigned based on operational needs, as determined by the College.

Within a minimum workweek of 37.5 hours, faculty are expected to teach a minimum of 15 hours and hold office hours.

Work with Course Leads, Department Chair, and Dean to ensure consistent and equitable student experiences.

Utilize the college’s learning management system to provide accurate and updated course materials to students.

Submit updated and accurate syllabi prior to the first day of class.

Regularly check College email and departmental mailbox.

Respond to emails/messages within 24 hours, except on the weekend.

Complete all required reports such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions; administer and return questionnaires and student outcome assessments by the required deadlines.

Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the registrar.

Provide academic advising to students with an emphasis on retention and success.

Remain current in the teaching area(s) through appropriate professional development activities.

Actively participate on committees within the School of Business and Professional Studies and college-wide committees.

Collaborate in building and maintaining relationships within and beyond the institution.

Engage in departmental institutional effectiveness activities.

Comply with all college and TBR policies and guidelines.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree or higher in Physical Sciences or a related field; and

First Aid and CPR Certification

Preferred Qualifications

Documented experience teaching at the college level.

Demonstrated commitment to equity and accessibility.

Demonstrated understanding of the community college mission and needs of the student population.

Documented experience teaching college level courses.

Documented experience teaching Physical Health Education or Health and Human Performance courses in a variety of modalities including in-person, hybrid, virtual, and asynchronously online.

Documented experience with coaching activity courses or certification in course content.

Demonstrated experience incorporating current technologies into teaching.

Ability to assist adjunct instructors with their course materials and questions.

Ability to teach in both a seven week and a fifteen-week format.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of and experience teaching using a variety of instructional delivery modes. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with a wide range of faculty, staff and student population. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and relevant instructional technologies.

Requirements

Requires a Master's degree or higher in Physical Sciences or a related field along with First Aid and CPR certifications. Preferred candidates have documented experience teaching at the college level and a commitment to equity and accessibility.
