- Essential Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with Virginia standards and Rise Academy’s instructional framework.
- Teach mathematics courses including Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and Physics.
- Design engaging lessons that promote conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and mathematical reasoning.
- Integrate technology and innovative instructional practices into daily teaching.
- Utilize formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Connect mathematical concepts to real-world applications and career pathways.
- Classroom Culture & Student Engagement Establish a structured, positive, and academically focused classroom environment.
- Foster a culture of respect, curiosity, collaboration, and perseverance.
- Build meaningful relationships with students that support academic growth and personal development.
- Maintain clear expectations for behavior, participation, and academic integrity.
- Student Support & Development Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Provide intervention and enrichment opportunities to support student achievement.
- Communicate regularly with students and families regarding academic progress.
- Support students in developing confidence, critical thinking skills, and independent learning habits.
- Professional Responsibilities Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.

Requirements
Required Qualifications Master's degree in Mathematics, Secondary Education, or a closely related field. Minimum of 3–5 years of successful high school teaching experience preferred. Experience teaching Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and/or Physics. Qualified to teach Dual Enrollment courses. Demonstrated ability to improve student achievement through engaging instruction and data-driven practices. Experience integrating instructional technology into the learning environment. Strong classroom management, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Virginia teaching license or eligibility for licensure. Experience teaching multiple mathematics disciplines. Experience working in Title I schools or diverse educational settings. Background in differentiated instruction and trauma-informed educational practices. Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and student-centered learning.
