Job Overview

The Site Instructor supports the daily operations of Be Strong After School Club (BSASC) by leading enrichment activities, assisting with logistics, and ensuring student engagement and safety. This role provides a well-rounded experience that balances academics, enrichment, and fun.

Work Schedule

  • 8-15 hours per week – aligned with after-school program hours at the assigned school site

  • Duties: Program Setup & Transitions Arrive on time, check in with Site Supervisor, and review daily assignments. Prepare activity areas, snack distribution space, and student rosters. Support smooth transitions between activities and rotations. Enrichment Facilitation Lead experiential learning using provided lesson plans. Facilitate physical activities (e.g., kickball, relay races, basketball). Support enrichment sessions by assisting external contractors. Adapt activities to ensure inclusivity, safety, and engagement. Academic Support Assist Site Supervisor during academic rotations. Provide encouragement and redirection for students needing extra support. Monitor student participation in online platforms (e.g., iReady, iExcel). Attendance & Meal Support Assist with taking attendance during mealtime. Help organize meal service and maintain a clean and safe environment. Ensure each student is accounted for and recorded properly. Student Supervision & Behavior Management Monitor student behavior during activities and transitions. Implement appropriate techniques for minor conflicts. Report safety or behavioral concerns immediately to the Site Supervisor. End of Day & Dismissal Assist with dismissal to ensure students leave with authorized adults. Clean and store program materials and supplies. Report incidents or observations to the Site Supervisor. Team Collaboration Communicate regularly with Site Supervisor and Security Monitor. Participate in staff meetings, training, and program events. Follow the chain of command for reporting concerns.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 1 year of experience working with youth in education, recreation, or after-school settings. Ability to lead activities and maintain student engagement. Strong communication and teamwork skills. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Must pass Level II background screening and sex offender registry check. Work Environment Position requires on-site presence at assigned school during after-school hours. Some evenings may be required for program events. Physical Demands: This position is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear. The position requires extensive computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen.
