Expectation of Employee
This person is responsible for the health and well-being of Carolina Day School’s students when the regularly employed school nurse(es) are not available or otherwise detained. A person in this position would be expected to work as needed and as available to support full-time nursing staff.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Serve as the “first responder” for any injuries or health needs that arise, administering first aid and contacting parents or health professionals as the situation warrants. This requires a level of physical fitness that enables the nurse to move quickly to any campus area in an emergency and to squat or bend down to ground level if someone is injured and lying on the ground.
Use electronic health software to maintain student health information, record treatment notes, and track administered medication.
Administer medication as ordered.
Record any student injuries or illnesses.
Communicate with teachers, staff, and parents regarding student health status.
