Assistant/Associate Professor - Nursing
The Department of Nursing and the Pre-Licensure Nursing Program seek to fill a faculty position in nursing at the assistant or associate professor level beginning August 10, 2026. This is a 9-month, tenure-eligible position that is focused on advancing knowledge through teaching, creative activity, and service within the university community.
The typical faculty load is 24 credits over the normal academic year, and teaching in the summer is optional. The position includes teaching responsibilities, clinical supervision, and coordination with other faculty. The University offers CCNE-accredited BSN (pre- and post-licensure) programs, an MSN program with concentrations on family practice, adult gerontological primary care, and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners; and a DNP program.
Primary responsibilities include teaching in the undergraduate pre-licensure program and working with students in simulated and clinical experiences. In a wide variety of situations, the candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities also include advising students, engaging in professional and scholarly development, and institutional service.
The successful candidate must have a Master of Nursing and be eligible for licensure in Iowa; a DNP is preferred but not required. They must demonstrate excellence in teaching at the university level, have a record of successfully advising and mentoring students, show interest in maintaining their own intellectual creativity, desire to engage in recruiting, and possess an ability to contribute to curriculum development and academic service.
