About the role

Ensure the safety of pool patrons through active lifeguarding and provide swim instruction to community members. Maintain physical and mental readiness to respond to aquatic emergencies.

ASSISTANT SWIM COACH (2) - $17.42/hour

Available Shifts

  • Monday,
  • Wednesday, and
  • Thursday 6:30pm - 8:30pm (flexibility with days)

Lifeguards - $16.43/Hour

Swim instructors – $16.43/Hour

Available Shifts

  • Monday -
  • Friday 5:45am - 11:30am
  • Saturday 6:45am - 3:15pm
  • Weekday Evenings
  • MINIMUM
  • Qualifications (All
  • Positions):
  • Minimum age of 16 or older (with valid NYS working papers for minors)
  • Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness
  • LIFEGUARDS: Must have a valid lifeguard certification (within 30 days of hire) and demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards
  • Be able to pass the CDYMCA swim test, as administered by the Aquatic Director or designated individual
  • Basic computer skills, with strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to relate to diverse groups in the community
  • Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration (completed within 30 days of hire)
  • New Employee Orientation, Sexual Harassment, ALICE (Active Shooter), and Blood-borne Pathogens trainings (completed within 90 days of hire)

Requirements

Candidates must be at least 16 years old and pass the CDYMCA swim test. Valid lifeguard certification and basic life support training are required within 30 days of hire.
