Position Title

Position Summary
The Autistic Support Teacher provides individualized instruction and specialized support for students with autism spectrum disorders in accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) regulations, IDEA requirements, and student IEPs. This role focuses on academic achievement, communication development, social skills, behavioral support, and independent living skills in a structured and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities Develop and deliver differentiated instruction aligned with Pennsylvania academic standards Implement and monitor IEP goals, specially designed instruction, and related accommodations Support students with communication, sensory, behavioral, and social-emotional needs Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and behavioral interventions for students with autism Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavior specialists, and families Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress and inform instruction Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with IDEA, Chapter 14, and PDE requirements Facilitate social skills instruction and promote independence and self-advocacy Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and multidisciplinary team discussions Create a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment Collaborate with General Education teachers Professional Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (required) Valid Pennsylvania Special Education Teaching Certification (PK-12 or equivalent PDE-approved certification) Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders, behavior supports, and differentiated instruction Experience working with students with autism or developmental disabilities preferred Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills Ability to implement data-driven instructional and behavioral strategies
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Special Education or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Experience with assistive technology and augmentative communication systems Training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or autism-specific instructional practices Experience in charter schools or urban education settings
