This opportunity primarily supports weekend coverage, with afternoon and evening availability preferred. We offer flexibility in scheduling based on organizational needs and candidate availability.

- Responsibilities may include: Build positive, supportive relationships with residents and actively engage with them throughout daily activities Help create a safe, structured, and encouraging environment for children and teens Support youth in reaching personal, behavioral, and developmental goals Observe, document, and communicate important updates, concerns, and successes with leadership and care teams Collaborate with case management, counseling, education, and support staff to meet resident needs Assist with transportation to appointments, activities, or community events as needed Participate in training focused on child and adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and relationship-building Model positive communication, healthy boundaries, and respectful interactions Follow shelter policies, procedures, and safety expectations Promote an inclusive, culturally respectful environment for residents and team members Attend required meetings, trainings, and team events Support additional duties as needed to ensure the success and wellbeing of residents

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must: Be 21 years of age or older Have a high school diploma or equivalent Be comfortable working in an active environment with children and teens Be able to meet physical requirements associated with supporting youth in a residential setting Successfully complete all required criminal background, child maltreatment, and pre-employment screenings Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening Have a valid driver’s license, proof of personal auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record to safely transport youth and support program needs Experience That’s Helpful (But Not Required) We value compassion, patience, and willingness to learn. Experience in the following areas is helpful, but not required: Working with children, teens, or families Supporting youth who may be experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges Experience in education, childcare, mentoring, behavioral health, social services, or similar settings Coursework or a degree in areas such as Education, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or related fields Familiarity with trauma-informed approaches, relationship-building, or behavior support strategies Skills We Value Successful team members often bring: Strong communication and relationship-building skills Reliability, flexibility, and a positive attitude Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities Comfort using basic computer systems and technology Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Professionalism and the ability to maintain healthy boundaries Work Environment & Physical Expectations This is a hands-on role supporting children and teens in an active residential environment. Team members should be comfortable with: Staying engaged and active throughout shifts, both indoors and outdoors Walking, standing, bending, lifting, and responding to the daily needs of youth Supporting youth during emotionally challenging moments and unpredictable situations Assisting with maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment Lifting up to 50 pounds, when needed
