- Here’s what you’ll need to join our team: Education: Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Special Education, or a related field is required.
- A Master's degree in Adapted Physical Education, Special Education, Kinesiology, or a related field is preferred.
Certification
- Valid Texas Educator Certification in Physical Education issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) is required. Additional certification, endorsement, or specialized training in Adapted Physical Education is preferred but not required.
- Additional
- Requirements: Knowledge of special education laws, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and familiarity with the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) process. Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities is preferred. CPR and First Aid certification are preferred.

- Role : As an Adaptive PE Teacher, you will play a critical role in supporting students with visual impairments by fostering independence, academic success, and equitable access to their educational environment.
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop
- Individualized
- Plans: Collaborate with ARD committees to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that address each student's unique physical, motor, and functional needs, ensuring meaningful participation in educational and physical activities.
- Provide
- Specialized
- Instruction: Deliver individualized and small-group adaptive physical education services focused on motor development, physical fitness, movement skills, coordination, balance, recreational skills, and lifelong wellness.
- Monitor
- Progress: Collect, analyze, and document student performance data to evaluate progress toward IEP goals and determine the effectiveness of instructional strategies, making adjustments as needed to support student growth.
- Collaborate with
- Teams: Work closely with general education teachers, special education staff, occupational therapists, physical therapists, related service providers, administrators, and families to ensure students receive comprehensive support across all educational environments. Actively participate in ARD meetings and multidisciplinary discussions.

- Access: Advocate for and implement accommodations, modifications, adaptive equipment, and instructional strategies that support students' participation in general physical education classes, extracurricular activities, and school-based programs.
