About the role

The teacher is responsible for creating a safe, Christ-centered classroom environment that supports the spiritual, social, and academic development of preschool children. Key duties include supervising children, maintaining developmental records, and communicating effectively with parents and staff.

Preschool Teacher First Presbyterian Day School in DeLand is seeking a Preschool Teacher who shares our mission of nurturing children in a Christ-centered environment where faith and learning grow together. The ideal candidate will create a safe, loving, and engaging classroom that encourages spiritual, social, and academic development. Schedule Options: 8:00am - 4:30pm 8:30am - 5:00pm

Qualifications

CDA or higher preferred (DCF 45-hour training required before start) Experience in early childhood education is a plus Passion for guiding young children in both faith and learning

Responsibilities

Provide a safe and welcoming classroom environment that supports the development of independence, problem-solving, and positive peer relationships. Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being. Maintain accurate records including attendance, accident/incident reports, and developmental progress as required by school policy and DCF. Communicate effectively with parents through conferences, newsletters, and daily interactions. Collaborate with assistant teachers, staff, and administration to foster a team-oriented environment. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and licensing requirements, including DCF staff-to-child ratios. Model Christian values and integrate age-appropriate spiritual development activities into the classroom. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events as required. Requirements
