Fork Union Military Academy (FUMA), a Christian all-boys college preparatory boarding school located in central Virginia near Charlottesville and the Blue Ridge Mountains, is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Mental Health Counselor for the 2026–2027 school year.
This position plays an important role in supporting cadet wellbeing, emotional resilience, behavioral support, and student success within a structured boarding school environment.

Position Overview The Mental Health Counselor works closely with faculty, TAC Officers, coaches, administrators, families, and health services staff to support the mental health and overall wellbeing of cadets.
This role provides counseling support, crisis response, behavioral intervention strategies, and student wellness resources while helping foster a safe, supportive, and student-focused campus environment.

Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with an understanding of adolescent development, student mental health, and behavioral support within an educational environment. The ability to maintain confidentiality, work collaboratively within the Academy's chain of command, and respond effectively in real-time situations is essential. A Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field is required. Virginia school counseling certification/licensure or eligibility for licensure is preferred. Experience working with adolescents, behavioral support, or student wellness programs is highly valued.
