Job description

  • The Security Officer provides for the safety and security of McMurry University students, faculty, staff, visitors, and property. This role ensures a safe campus environment by conducting patrols, responding to emergencies, enforcing campus regulations, and supporting the university community with professionalism and integrity. Job Duties
  • Patrol University premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
  • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or actions needing police
  • Circulate among visitors, students, or employees to preserve order and protect property.
  • Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours.
  • Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary.
  • Escort individuals to specified locations or to provide personal protection. Requirements High School diploma. Some previous experience and knowledge of Public Safety and Security, Customer and Personal Service, and Federal, State, & Local laws. Must be familiar with computers and able use two way radios for communication across campus. Schedule Shift work- nights and weekends.
