Job Summary

The Human Resources Coordinator is a key contributor to the HR Team. This individual is responsible for the administration of tasks related to all functions of the human resources department to include record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry. The HR Coordinator interacts with a variety of individuals at the university from students to staff to faculty, providing excellent customer service. The HR Coordinator also acts as the primary HR liaison for student workers and adjuncts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greets walk-in visitors to the HR office and functions as initial point of contact for Human Resources Department.
  • 2.
  • Monitors Human Resources inbox daily and responds to emails or refers email to appropriate human resources member for resolution.
  • 3.
  • Administers the student employment and adjunct hiring/onboarding processes (job posting, hiring, onboarding, orientation) with hiring managers.
  • 4.
  • Partners with Payroll, Financial Aid and hiring managers to support the Student Employment System (SEMS) by orientating and monitoring student employee compliance to policies pertaining to reporting of hours worked and actual hours worked.
  • This also includes removing student employees from SEMS, maintaining approved supervisors of student workers in SEMS; updating SEMS user access and assist with training to supervisors.

  • Enters data and maintains HRIS for hiring and terminations 6.
  • Processes employee terminations and distributes benefits correspondence 7.
  • Files documents into appropriate employee electronic files 8.
  • Assists or prepares correspondence as requested 9.
  • Processes employment verification requests by either referring to external third party or as needed directly to inquiring entity 10.
  • Processes Pennsylvania unemployment compensation requests in collaboration with Payroll Administrator 11.
  • Assists in maintaining the HR Intranet (ADP Homepage) with employee service anniversaries, employee new hires, annual benefits data and other updates as needed.

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations 13.
  • Recommends new approaches, processes, policies and procedures 14.
  • Assist with collection and data input for all human resources survey requests 15.
  • Contacts injured employees to request accident incident reports and files claim with workers compensation carrier 16.
  • Supports benefits administration process through reconciliation and processing of monthly benefits invoices and annual Open Enrollment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant experience in Human Resources role is preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Occasionally lifting 25 lbs. or less
