Child Care Specialist Floater Location

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and adaptable Child Care Specialist – Floater to provide direct care, supervision, and behavioral support to children with medical and mental health needs. This role supports children in foster care and group home settings, stepping in where additional or interim support is required. The position focuses on promoting independence, social development, and community integration. Key Responsibilities: Deliver individualized care aligned with each child's service plan Support daily living activities, emotional needs, and behavioral development Escort children to appointments and activities; ensure proper documentation Implement behavior support strategies and collect/report data Maintain a safe environment and adhere to mandated reporting requirements Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, families, and community resources Respond to crises and provide physical assistance as needed

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED (required) Minimum 1 year of experience in social services or working with children with disabilities or complex needs Valid Illinois Driver's License, insurance, and reliable transportation Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and CPI certifications within 30 days Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills Work Environment & Physical Requirements: Work across multiple sites, including homes and community settings Must be able to lift up to 50+ lbs as needed and respond to physical demands of caregiving Ability to manage stressful and unpredictable situations with professionalism
