The Opportunity
The Simulation Specialist II (SS II) provides human and technological simulation-based expertise for the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center (CSSC). This critical position reports to the Director of Clinical Skills with additional oversight from the Simulation Specialist IV. The SS II will work directly with stakeholders and CSSC staff to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate simulation-based education events. CSSC supports the College of Medicine’s Undergraduate Medical Education curriculum and is critical to the COM’s MD program which allows for the instruction of foundational clinical skills and the assessment of student’s clinical competencies before residency training. UCF is seeking to fill multiple roles. Candidates for this job posting will be considered for additional vacancies in this department.
Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and coordinate simulation-based education events to include case scenarios, training materials and schedules that align with learning goals. Recruit and train SPs (SPs are defined to be any of: Simulated Patient, Simulation Technologist, PETA, GTA, and MUTA.) Ensure appropriate fidelity and realism of simulation events including SP portrayal, moulage, equipment, supplies, simulator programming, and room/session/event set-up to meet simulation-based learning objectives. Develop and implement assessment tools to routinely evaluate SP performance and simulation events. Responsible for creation of event checklists; maintenance of simulation equipment, scenarios, and documentation; and quality improvement processes including debriefing event with staff and stakeholders (e.g. +/Delta forms or After Action Reports). Work with CSSC leadership to provide short-term and long range comprehensive strategic and operational planning in support of the simulation programs. Ensure adherence to SSH accreditation standards, Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice and the SSH Simulationist Code of Ethics. Participate in professional development activities. Represent UCF COM at professional medical simulation conferences, meetings and seek out professional opportunities to present research and/or innovations. Other duties as assigned include, but not limited to, timely completion of UCF & COM required training and updates.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
