About the role

The technician manages the operational and technical aspects of nursing skills labs, including the setup and operation of high-fidelity simulation technology. They provide real-time technical support during sessions and handle scheduling, inventory, and equipment maintenance.

Job Description

Primary Duties

  • Operations and Technical Support
  • Prepares skills lab environments, including supplies, equipment, and technology
  • Prepares and operates simulation technologies including high fidelity mannequins, task trainers, standardized patients, audiovisual systems, and related software
  • Provides real-time support, including troubleshooting technical issues, during live simulation and skills lab sessions to facilitate student learning
  • Supports audio and video recording, live-streaming, and playback for instructional and debriefing purposes
  • Provides operational guidance to users in simulation and lab spaces
  • Assists with faculty orientation to lab spaces
  • Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on lab equipment
  • Scheduling & Communication
  • Schedules simulation and skills lab activities
  • Tracks utilization of lab rooms, equipment, and supplies
  • Conducts routine inventory of equipment and supplies
  • Proactively communicates with faculty regarding planned educational activities
  • Notifies the Simulation Lab Coordinator of needed purchases or repairs
  • Upholds learner safety, confidentiality, and professional standards at all times
  • Ancillary Duties
  • Attends meetings, as scheduled
  • Participates in University events
  • Serves on committees within the SON and University

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Licensure or certification in nursing or related allied health profession
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, equipment, and supplies
  • Perform extensive walking, lifting weighted materials (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Experience in academic operations, scheduling, or project coordination
  • Experience operating audiovisual systems
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in nursing or related field
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • CHSE and/or CHSOS certification
  • Experience in healthcare simulation

$54,000 - $65,000
