FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Auxiliary Programs Director/Registrar
Hours
Part-Time: 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday–Friday
Summary
This position provides essential support across classrooms and the after-school program, serving children ages 6 to 12. The role involves supervising students in a safe, structured, and engaging environment while assisting with daily operations. Responsibilities include collaborating with the Director, maintaining an organized and visually appealing classroom setting, modeling grace and courtesy in all interactions, and ensuring a secure, nurturing atmosphere that promotes positive behavior and learning.
Job Duties/Essential Functions
- Early child care support
- Supports the Lead Teacher in the Early Childhood Department by assisting with daily classroom operations and routines
- Assists with classroom needs, including preparing materials, organizing activities, and maintaining a balanced and structured learning environment
- Provides active supervision of children to ensure a safe, engaging, and supportive atmosphere
- Assists with all nap time duties, including setup, monitoring, and cleanup
- Supports the dismissal process by ensuring children are safely and appropriately released to authorized guardians
- After-care
- Ability to coordinate and implement structured events and activities for students from 1st through 6th grade.
- Ability to provide proactive supervision in a variety of situations.
- Ability to create and implement a structured schedule for the after-care program
- Ability to ensure the after-care materials and spaces are properly restored at the end of the day
- Ensure playground safety and rules are implemented
- Properly record and report any incidents
- Ability to provide redirection in a positive manner while modeling grace and courtesy
- Ability to take inventory of after-care materials and create a list of needed items
- Ability to have occasional flexibility during spring break, summer and other times as needed
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills and punctuality
- Must be able to occasionally stay after 5:30 p.m. to ensure all students are dismissed
- Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or associate degree or higher in education, psychology, or related field
- Experience working with children
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people with a team approach
- Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience in a Montessori environment
- Bilingual: English/Spanish
