About the role

Develop and implement a comprehensive dry land training program to enhance the strength, conditioning, and flexibility of the Madison Area YMCA Mariners swim team. Collaborate with the Head Coach to align physical training with overall competition goals and ensure athlete safety.

Position summary

Under the direction of the Competitive Aquatics Director, Head Coach, the Dry Land Coach is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive dry land training program for the Madison Area YMCA Mariners swim team. This role focuses on enhancing the swimmers' strength, conditioning, flexibility, and overall athletic performance to complement their in-water training. The Dry Land Coach will work closely with the Head Swim Coach and lead coaches to ensure that dry land training aligns with the team's overall training and competition goals.

Essential functions

Develops athletes in all aspects of swimming including mental and physical development.

Designs and implements dry land training programs tailored to various age groups and skill levels within the swim team in coordination with the Head Coach.

Ensures that programs focus on strength training, conditioning, flexibility, injury prevention, and overall athletic development.

Conducts regular dry land training sessions, providing instruction, motivation, and positive feedback to swimmers.

Prioritizes the safety of all participants by ensuring proper technique and use of equipment during training sessions.

Communicates with parents, members, participants, and other staff in a positive, supportive, and effective manner, fostering strong relationships across the team and community.

Attends required meetings, clinics, or team social functions.

Keeps accurate attendance and all other records current and organized.

Supports and participates in association Initiatives.

Partners with other departments as appropriate to ensure success.

Builds relationships with members; encourages members to build relationships with other members and join in the YMCA movement.

Facilitates and guides the teaching of the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in our YMCA programs. In addition, models these values personally.

Maintains discipline with children during all activities under the guidelines of the Child Abuse Prevention Policy and Code of Conduct.

Keeps Head Coach appraised of situations requiring his/her attention.

Performs other job-related duties as requested and necessary.

Supervision of Youth

Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.

Attend required abuse risk management training.

Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.

Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

Adhere to job specific abuse management responsibilities.

Requirements

The candidate must be able to design age-appropriate athletic programs and maintain a safe environment for youth. Adherence to child abuse prevention policies and effective communication with parents and staff are required.
