The teacher will provide specialized instruction to preschool children with disabilities based on their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Responsibilities include developing developmentally appropriate lessons and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and families.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field and a valid New York State teaching certification. Preference is given to those with 1-2 years of experience and fluency in English and another language.
Develop and implement individualized and small-group instruction aligned with IEP goals. Conduct ongoing assessment and progress monitoring. Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. Prepare lesson plans using evidence-based early childhood and special education practices. Collaborate with speech, occupational, physical, and behavioral service providers. Participate in CPSE meetings and contribute to IEP development. Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and compliance records. Support positive behavior interventions and social-emotional development. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress. Ensure compliance with NYSED regulations and program policies.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or related field. Valid New York State teaching certification. Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with preschool-aged children with disabilities preferred. Knowledge of IEP development, assessment practices, and NYSED preschool special education regulations. Strong collaboration and communication skills. Additional Requirements: Fluency in English and one additional language preferred (Spanish, Mandarin, or Bengali) Minimum of 90 college credits in Early Childhood Education (for Study Plan candidates) Enthusiasm for working in a collaborative, multicultural, and high-energy environment
