  • Overview: We are seeking a Special Education teacher to join our Universal Pre-K (UPK) program. The SPED Teacher will provide specialized instruction and educational services to preschool children (ages 3–5) with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). They will develop and implement developmentally appropriate lessons that support cognitive, communication, social-emotional, adaptive, and motor skill development while collaborating with families, therapists, and multidisciplinary team members. Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement individualized and small-group instruction aligned with IEP goals. Conduct ongoing assessment and progress monitoring. Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. Prepare lesson plans using evidence-based early childhood and special education practices. Collaborate with speech, occupational, physical, and behavioral service providers. Participate in CPSE meetings and contribute to IEP development. Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and compliance records. Support positive behavior interventions and social-emotional development. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress. Ensure compliance with NYSED regulations and program policies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or related field. Valid New York State teaching certification. Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with preschool-aged children with disabilities preferred. Knowledge of IEP development, assessment practices, and NYSED preschool special education regulations. Strong collaboration and communication skills. Additional Requirements: Fluency in English and one additional language preferred (Spanish, Mandarin, or Bengali) Minimum of 90 college credits in Early Childhood Education (for Study Plan candidates) Enthusiasm for working in a collaborative, multicultural, and high-energy environment

Requirements
