About the role

The Licensed Reading Interventionist provides targeted literacy instruction and evidence-based interventions to students needing foundational reading support. Overall Objectives The Licensed Reading Interventionist provides targeted literacy instruction and intervention services to students who require additional support in developing foundational reading skills. Working collaboratively with classroom teachers, administrators, and support staff, this position uses assessment data, evidence-based instructional practices, and ongoing progress monitoring to improve student reading achievement. The Licensed Reading Interventionist plays a key role in identifying student needs, developing intervention plans, monitoring student growth, and making data-informed recommendations regarding participation in intervention services, all while supporting Yinghua Academy's mission, values, and commitment to student success.

Principal Roles & Responsibilities Academic Program Collaborates with classroom teachers, Academic Directors, and other support staff to identify students who may benefit from reading intervention services through literacy screenings, diagnostic assessments, progress monitoring data, and classroom performance.

Provides targeted small-group and individual reading interventions using evidence-based literacy practices and structured literacy approaches to address student needs in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and written language.

Develops, implements, and monitors intervention plans and schedules, ensuring students receive consistent services while minimizing disruption to core classroom instruction.

Administers literacy assessments, maintains intervention rosters and service records, and monitors student progress through ongoing assessment and data collection.

Analyzes assessment and progress monitoring data to evaluate intervention effectiveness and help determine whether students should enter intervention services, continue receiving support, receive modified interventions, or successfully exit intervention programming.

Collaborates with classroom teachers and support staff to align intervention strategies with core instruction and support student success across learning environments.

Participates in Child Study, MTSS, intervention planning, and problem-solving meetings and provides recommendations regarding student literacy needs and intervention services.

Supports school-wide literacy initiatives and implementation of evidence-based reading practices and attends grade-level academic events as scheduled.

Curriculum and Research Prepares and regularly submits intervention plans, instructional materials, and progress monitoring documentation.

Evaluates literacy assessment data and intervention outcomes to support continuous program improvement.

Researches and implements evidence-based literacy strategies and instructional practices.

Participates in all scheduled professional development.

Classroom/Behavior Management Follows school-wide behavioral and safety guidelines and policies.

Applies school and intervention group expectations consistently and effectively.

Seeks guidance from administration and instructional leaders on behavior and classroom management strategies as needed.

Program Compliance Maintains accurate student records and proper documentation of interventions, assessments, and progress monitoring.

Completes all required reports, documentation, and evaluations in a timely manner.

Follows all school policies, procedures, and protocols.

Attends all required safety and health training.

Communication Maintains effective communication with teachers, administrators, and support staff regarding student progress and intervention services.

Collaborates with classroom teachers to support implementation of intervention strategies and student learning goals.

Communicates clearly with students regarding expectations for participation in intervention sessions, classroom routines, and personal responsibility for learning, while fostering a supportive environment that builds student confidence, engagement, and ownership of literacy growth.

Communicates with parents and guardians regarding student progress, intervention goals, and strategies for supporting literacy development at home.

Actively participates in grade-level, intervention, and staff meetings.

Conducts parent-teacher conferences as required by supervisor.

Reads all school communication and responds to emails and phone calls in a timely manner.

Requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Reading, Literacy, Education, or a related field preferred. Holds a valid Minnesota teaching license in Reading, Elementary Education, Special Education, or another closely related licensure area. Minnesota Reading Teacher license preferred. Training in the Science of Reading, UFLI, mCLASS DIBELS, or similar evidence-based literacy frameworks preferred. Minnesota state approved READ Act training program completion preferred. Experience providing reading intervention services and analyzing student achievement data preferred. Strong knowledge of literacy development, reading assessment, progress monitoring, and intervention practices. Ability to analyze data and make data-driven instructional decisions regarding student intervention needs. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, families, and support staff. Use of technology as an instructional and assessment tool.
