About the role

The Educator is responsible for all aspects of classroom management, child supervision, and ensuring the health, development, and safety of enrolled children. They must maintain a trauma-informed environment and comply with program rules and mandated outcomes.

Kansas Children's Service League is looking to hire a full-time Early Head Start Childhood Educator in Liberal, KS. This position earns a competitive wage of up to $16.53 per hour and works a Monday - Friday schedule with occasional evenings and weekends.

Job summary

The Early Head Start Childhood Educator is responsible for all aspects of the classroom, child supervision, and care. The position is responsible for child health, development, and safety. The Educator supervises classroom activities, complies with mandated outcomes, program rules, applicable laws and program standards are met.

Essential job functions

Maintain and regularly refresh a safe, age appropriate, welcoming, and trauma-informed classroom environment for enrolled children.

Provide accurate, timely, record and data keeping and reporting.

Attend trainings as instructed.

Education and experience

  • Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) certification from the Council for Professional Recognition, preferred education listed below or the ability to obtain a CDA within two-years from hire date.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Demonstrated awareness of the challenges and strengths of children and families living with lower incomes and/or special needs.
  • At least one year of paid experience working with infants and toddlers.
  • Preferred
  • Associate degree or greater in child development or early childhood education. Equivalent coursework will be considered for candidates without a degree but have completed 60 or more credit hours.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend Spanish.
  • Paid experience in a licensed childcare setting.

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma and at least one year of paid experience working with infants and toddlers. A CDA certification is preferred or must be obtained within two years of hire.
