The Paraprofessional supports the teaching team with classroom management and the supervision and care of children. They are responsible for ensuring child health, safety, and adherence to program rules and agency policies.

Kansas Children's Service League is looking to hire a full-time Head Start Paraprofessional in Liberal, KS. This position earns a competitive wage of $14 per hour and works a Monday - Friday schedule with occasional evenings and weekends.

Job summary

Under the daily supervision of the Teacher, the Paraprofessional supports the teaching team with all aspects of classroom and child supervision and care. The position is responsible for child health, development, and safety, and for ensuring program rules, applicable laws, and agency policies and protocols, are followed.

Education and experience

  • Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) certification from the Council for Professional Recognition, preferred education listed below or the ability to obtain a CDA within two years from hire date.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Demonstrated awareness of the challenges and strengths of children and families living with lower incomes and/or special needs.

  • Associates degree in Early Childhood Education.

Requirements

A high school diploma is required, and a CDA certification is preferred or must be obtained within two years. Candidates should have a demonstrated awareness of the challenges facing low-income families or those with special needs.
