Plan and implement an Early Head Start curriculum to meet the needs of children aged 6 weeks to 3 years. Supervise staff and volunteers while maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant classroom environment.
Requires a high school diploma and at least one year of experience with young children, with an associate degree preferred. Candidates must pass NYS Central Registry clearance and meet OCFS licensing health and physical standards.
Overview of job responsibilities: Plan and implement with room staff team a curriculum that will address both individual children’s and group needs appropriately utilizing EHS curriculum. Provide supervision, role modeling, and support and encourage professional development of all child care staff and volunteers through team meetings, shared program planning, and day to day interactions. Flexibility and ability to work in all classroom environments for children 6 weeks to 3 years of age as needed to meet the required classroom ratio. Monitor and maintain the classroom environment including cleanliness, minor repairs, health and safety issues, inventory and request supplies and equipment.
Qualifications require the following for the role of a Pre-K Teacher: Clearance through NYS Central Registry is required. High School Diploma or equivalent and at least with one year experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 3 years. Associates’ Degree preferred. Must meet NYS/Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations requirements. Must meet health standards for OCFS licensing, be able to lift up to 40 pounds and be able to participate in all developmentally appropriate activities. Our Day Care Environment: Physical contact with children ages six (6) weeks to three (3) years of age. Provide support to program needs by ensuring classroom ratios are met. Position has both internal contacts within the organization and external contacts within the community, which require considerable tact, courtesy, and diplomacy. The utmost of integrity is required to safeguard confidential proprietary information. Weather permitting daily walks and outdoor activities with the children.
