The Math Interventionist provides intensive, targeted supplementary instruction to students in need of additional support through individual or small group sessions. They are responsible for monitoring student progress, implementing differentiated lesson plans, and collaborating with school staff to drive academic achievement.
Candidates must hold a valid Michigan teaching certification or a Bachelor's degree or higher in the relevant content area. Required competencies include knowledge of instruction methodology, student assessment, and the ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
The primary duties and areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, the following: Professional Development Actively contributes to a professional community that focuses on instruction and high student achievement; Seeks opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge; Actively participate in school level and network professional development opportunities; Implements recommendations and best practices acquired through professional development, continuing education, observation, coaching, and evaluation; Utilizes effective instructional practices responding to the needs of each scholar; All other duties as assigned. Curriculum/Learning Model Establish a caseload of students based on criteria identified in the School Improvement Plan; Plan and implement differentiated instruction using district resources; Conduct regular benchmarking to establish levels for all students; Demonstrates cultural competencies through Culturally Responsive Teaching; Utilizes data, in order to drive instruction, and modifies instructional practices focused on what is best for students; Planning and preparation of daily lesson plans that are adjusted where needed; Coordinates instruction within the teachers, instructional coaches, and U Prep Network Directors; Integrates all aspects of the teaching and learning cycle into classroom procedures and instruction; All other duties as assigned. School Culture Seeks and builds positive relationships with students; Develop relationships with students by supporting and participating in school events and activities; Ensures a safe, supportive, and productive environment for students; Sets and maintains high academic expectations for students; Work with students and the greater school community in using Restorative Practices and Principles to build relationships and to promote a culture of fairness and respect for all; Promotes teamwork within the learning community; Serve as a member of the Student Study Team; Incorporates core values into all work, projects, and interactions with members of the school community; All other duties as assigned. Community/Parental Outreach Actively engages parents in the learning process and work collaboratively with families and community members remaining sensitive to different cultures, values and/or needs; Seeks and builds relationships with professional organizations; Resolves parent concerns and communication timely, respectfully, and effectively; All other duties as assigned. Compliance Drafts, updates, and submits lesson plans and data analysis action plans on a consistent basis; Takes accurate attendance in a timely manner; Maintains professional credentials and submits updates to the Human Resources Department prior to expiration dates; Responds to requests from the School Operations Team for any required actions or documents to maintain accurate and complete records and meet reporting deadlines; All other duties as assigned. QualificationsEducation/Experience: Valid Michigan teaching certification OR Bachelor's degree or higher in content area; Must meet highly qualified criteria in content area taught, which includes certificate endorsement in the appropriate area(s) Desired Competencies: Knowledge of curriculum design, instruction methodology, and student assessments; Mission-driven, connects with the goals of U Prep Schools; Ability to nurture and sustain high-quality culturally relevant teaching and maintain high academic rigor; Experience in building strong, positive relationships with colleagues, students, and parents; Courage to make strategic decisions in support of academic and cultural goals while maintaining a steady pulse of team and school goals; Meticulous organization and use of time; Excellent written and oral communication skills.
