The Computer Science Teacher provides technology instruction to K-8 students and assists the campus with minor technical troubleshooting. They are responsible for developing lesson plans aligned with state standards and managing classroom technology equipment.
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in a related field or a professional certification with a 2-year college completion. A minimum of 3 years of experience working with school-age children (PK-8) is required.
The Computer Science Teacher will serve as an educational leader as it pertains to technology at the school. The role will include teaching computer principles to K- 8th grade students and assisting the campus with minor technology troubleshooting. The role has specific duties and responsibilities detailed below.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Computer Science /Technology Instruction Basic typing/ keyboard skills Using web browsers Software Applications File maintenance and organization Using the internet for research Basic computer troubleshooting Online privacy, security, and safety skills Coding/Robotics skills 3-D printing Content Creation Professional educator Submit weekly lesson plans Organize technology units to align with Enrichment Strands and Texas State Standards Keep order in the classroom and handles student behavior issues in accordance with school system policies Other duties as assigned Collaborative team member Assist with campus projects and special initiatives as requested Manage the technology equipment Provide guidance, support and direction to teachers and campus regarding technology platforms (Google Suite, Seesaw, Clever, etc.) Communicate needs with STEM Department lead Stay up to date on changes and advancements in educational technology May also assist with a variety of audiovisual equipment as needed
