About the role

Develop training guidelines and oversee administrative functions for the middle school volleyball team. Empower students with learning differences while upholding the mission of The Shelton School.

The Shelton School is the largest independent school worldwide for intelligent students with learning differences. Shelton provides a superior education for those that think and learn differently. A customized approach is used to teach and learn within a mainstream environment.

The Shelton School of Dallas (TAPPS 4A) is in search of a Middle School Volleyball Coach. This team competes in the TAPS Middle School league. These positions develop key objectives and training guidelines for the middle school soccer team; oversees all administrative functions of the middle school team; and performs all other activities necessary to carry out the aims of the sport and uphold the mission of The Shelton School. This includes serving and empowering the lives of students who learn differently.

This is a part-time stipend only position. The exact daily work schedule is driven by practice times and team events. Travel to athletic events off campus is required. However, the employee is expected to work beyond the workday to perform duties outlined in the job description and as assigned.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Middle School Coach
  • A mentor to students, comfortable with working with teenage boys and girls
  • In good standing with TAPPS
  • Must be highly organized and a great communicator
  • Must be patient and creative in communicating with learning different students
  • Must be willing to undergo extra training to work with learning different students

Other Requirements

  • Knowledgeable of rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of Volleyball
  • Numerous coaching techniques (all of our kids learn differently)
  • Valid state of Texas driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug screen
