Family Consultant – Early Head Start: Make a Difference in the Lives of Young Children and Families

Do you believe that parents are a child's first and most important teacher? Are you passionate about supporting families during pregnancy and the critical first three years of a child's life?

Mountain States Early Head Start (MSEHS) is seeking a compassionate, organized, and relationship-focused Family Consultant to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with expectant families and families with infants and toddlers, helping them build strong foundations for lifelong learning and success.

About the Position

The Family Consultant partners with pregnant women, infants, toddlers, and their families through weekly home visits using a strengths-based, family-centered approach. Family Consultants empower families to identify goals, support children's development, connect with community resources, and promote healthy parent-child relationships.

This role combines relationship building, child development, family support, community engagement, and documentation while working as part of a collaborative Early Head Start team.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with Families
  • Build trusting, respectful relationships with families.
  • Conduct weekly home visits focused on child development, family well-being, and school readiness.
  • Support expectant families as they prepare for the birth of their child.
  • Help families identify strengths, set goals, and celebrate progress.
  • Encourage family leadership and participation in program activities, including Policy Council.
  • Support Children's Development
  • Conduct developmental screenings and assessments.
  • Share learning activities families can use between home visits.
  • Collaborate with parents to create meaningful learning experiences within the home environment.
  • Monitor child growth, development, and progress toward goals.
  • Connect Families to Resources
  • Build relationships with community partners and service providers.
  • Assist families with referrals and access to needed resources.

    Qualifications

    • Home-Based Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, comparable credential, or equivalent coursework toward an associate's or bachelor's degree.
    • Desired Experience and Skills
    • Experience working with pregnant women, infants, toddlers, and families.
    • Knowledge of child development and family support practices.
    • Ability to work effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, internet applications, and virtual meeting platforms.
