Why Join Us At St. Mark’s, the study of history and social sciences helps students understand both the complexities of the past and the challenges of an interconnected world. Through inquiry, discussion, and critical analysis, students learn to evaluate historical evidence, appreciate diverse perspectives, and engage thoughtfully with contemporary issues. This position offers an opportunity to join a dynamic History and Social Sciences Department and work with motivated students who are eager to explore global and historical questions. Teaching here is more than what happens in the classroom. As a faculty member, you’ll also serve as an advisor, coach, and mentor, helping students navigate school, discover new interests, and grow into their best selves. Our community thrives on collaboration and connection, and we’re looking for educators who are excited to engage fully in all aspects of residential school life. What You’ll Do Reporting to the Head of the History and Social Sciences Department, this teacher serves as a key member of the St. Mark’s community. You’ll be a teacher, mentor, and co-creator of learning.
  • You will: Teach introductory through advanced levels of History to students in grades 9 through 12 Design engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences that foster critical thinking, discussion, and analytical skills Create an inclusive classroom environment that supports a diverse community of learners Provide meaningful feedback that encourages student growth and intellectual curiosity Collaborate with department colleagues on curriculum development, course design, and innovative teaching practices Serve as an advisor and mentor, supporting students academically and personally throughout their St. Mark’s experience Engage fully in community life, including coaching or leading co-curricular activities during two seasons each year, participating in weekend activities and events, and more Work thoughtfully with students and colleagues in ways that strengthen the inclusive and relational culture of the
