We are looking for a creative, flexible teacher to join our team of seasoned educators who will model, uphold, and facilitate the school mission through instruction of English and Language Arts in the high school.
Maintaining a close, personal walk with the Lord and being a credible Christian role model, in and out of school, in attitude, speech, and action Supporting and promoting the school’s Statement of Faith and mission Possessing Biblical knowledge and the ability to integrate Scripture into subject matters taught in order to help form a biblical worldview in our students Planning lessons on English and Language Arts in accordance with students' learning objectives and aligned to discipline specific standards Creating and maintaining an engaging learning environment for students that supports school behavioral expectations Assigning, assessing, and reporting on student progress Participating actively in faculty and parent-teacher meetings Establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units and projects Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of students Communicating regularly with parents
A Master's degree in Education, English, or related field is preferred so that courses qualify for dual college credit A Bachelor's degree in English, Education or related field is required A current Oregon Teacher’s License or ACSI certification is preferred Prior experience desired Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with others and clearly express complex ideas Ability to develop lesson plans and successfully instruct students in theories, methods and tasks Proficient active listening skills to understand and adapt to students’ various learning needs Knowledge of appropriate educational psychology, learning styles and strategies unique to middle school students Strong public speaking and oral presentation skills Capacity to supervise individual and group work Outstanding planning and problem-solving skills Excellent classroom management skills
