Job description

General Purpose

  • To provide support for health, mental health, disabilitites, and nutrition implementation and data entry for Head Start and Early Head Start centers as assigned in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and state and local guidance.

  • Education: Associate’s Degree with knowledge of family services, health services, special needs, mental health, social services, or child development preferred.

Experience

Experience in community health, special needs, family services, or mental health services preferred. Must have excellent organization. Must have experience with data entry and technology.

Salary Range

$15 - $19 (depends on level of education)

General Duties

  • 1.
  • Maintain a professional attitude: a. Adhere to personnel policies and procedures b. Support and enforce regulations c. Assumes and completes all duties in a professional manner d. Accepts responsibility e. Demonstrates enthusiasm for the program f. Responds objectively to change g. Responds with professionalism to correction and instruction h. Develop and maintain cordial working relationships with coworkers and supervisors. 2. Participates in and attends staff meetings as required. 3. Communicate regularly and routinely with the supervisor and follow the chain of command as outline in the personnel policies and procedures. 4. Complete all required training (minimum of 15 hours per year). 5. Attend professional development as assigned. 6. Responsible for maintaining confidentiality regarding children, families, and agency business. 7. Completes other duties as assigned by your supervisor and/or GETCAP Administration. 8. Be available to supervisors, families, community partners, and other staff members during work hours as needed for the effective operations of the Centers, Program, and Agency.

  • Functions: 1. Support implementation of health, mental health, disabilities, and nutrition policies, procedures, and plans. 2. Gather child health records within required timelines. 3. Maintain records of health, dental, mental health, and nutrition data in the required databases. 4. Support family’s access to a primary source of health care. 5. Monitor child health records and provide timely reminders to families of upcoming and missing assessments and exams. 6. Develop and implement follow-up plans to support addressing family’s needs 7. Support scheduling and implementation of screenings. 8. Support families in necessary follow-up from health, mental health, disability, and nutrition screenings and exams. 9. Assist with coordinating the provision of necessary services to children with disabilities. 10. Ensure the maintenance of collaborative relationships with community partners and resources. 11. Supports parent involvement in decision regarding their child’s health care. 12. Shares resources to support family’s understanding of health care services, procedures, and requirements. 13. Supports family’s understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for children health, mental health, nutrition, and behavioral health. 14. Acquire written documentation of refusals of health care services.

Work Environment

The Wellness and Inclusion Support performs work inside buildings and offices with other GETCAP employees, interns, and volunteers. The setting requires verbal and written communication with community partners, families, children, and coworkers. The Wellness and Inclusion support performs most work during weekday regular business hours.

Physical Requirements

 May be required to assist in the evacuation of the building. The ability to lift up to 25 lbs.  Ability to travel  Daily standing for periods of several hours while executing various tasks.  Regular reaching, including over-head.
