Job description

Department: Athletics

Supervised by: Head Coach, Men’s and Women’s Track and Field

Flsa status: Exempt

Employment status: Part-time

Position description

To serve in a part-time capacity as Assistant Coach of the University’s Men’s and Women’s Track and Field program.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices, games, and team activities.
  • Support recruitment and retention of student-athletes aligned with the university’s mission.
  • Promote respect, discipline, and wellness among athletes.
  • Assist with promoting an atmosphere of compliance.
  • Monitor academic progress and promote student-athlete well-being.
  • Handle team logistics, including scheduling, travel, and equipment.
  • Represent the program positively in the community and at university events.
  • Contribute to fundraising efforts and program development.
  • Stay updated on coaching trends and engage in professional growth opportunities.
  • Ensure NCAA and university compliance and stay updated on coaching best practices.

Required qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years combined coaching or playing experience in Track and Field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, computer competency, ability to relate with various constituencies of the university
  • Commitment to the mission of the university
  • A commitment to compliance with NCAA, Conference, and University rules
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
  • Currently credentialed/willingness to become CPR, First Aid and AED certified

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree
  • College coaching experience
