The Sports Instructor plans and leads volleyball practices, clinics, and games for youth and adults. They are responsible for court preparation, equipment maintenance, and ensuring a safe environment for all participants.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old with over 6 months of experience in organized sports, preferably in volleyball. CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are required within 30 days of hire.
Under the supervision of the Sports Coordinator, the Sports Instructor ensures an organized, safe, and impactful sports program operation for all participants. The Instructor will assist with the planning, leading, and supervision of youth and adult sports including practices, clinics, and games for the following sports: Volleyball. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Plan, lead, and supervise assigned youth and adult sport practices, clinics, and games Prepare courts for use including equipment set up and breakdown Maintain all sports equipment used by the sports department Maintain a safe environment by ensuring playing areas are suitable for game play Ensure a safe program operation for all participants Provide continual instruction and supervision of group and serve as a leader Serve as score keeper for assigned games Attend and actively participate in assigned staff meetings Coach teams when necessary, or fill in for absent coaches when called upon Maintain a positive relationship with staff, participants, volunteer coaches, officials, and parents Track attendance of participants in games, clinics, and practices and maintain records Follow YMCA standards, procedures, guidelines, objectives and goals Demonstrate enthusiasm in all phases of work with participants Ensure effective communication with parents, colleagues, volunteers, and participants Instill, teach and model YMCA values at all times Other duties as assigned
Must be 18 years of age or older Minimum of 6+ month's experience in organized youth and adult sports Experience in Volleyball preferred. Physical ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform job related tasks Must have visual, physical, and auditory ability to act swiftly in emergency situations CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross American Heart Association American Safety & Health Institute
