About the role

The teacher will provide student-centered instruction and manage the IEP/Treatment Plan process for students with learning and behavioral challenges. Responsibilities include collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and implementing PBIS campus approaches to ensure a safe learning environment.

  • Include: Demonstrate a student centered approach to instruction Participation in a reflective professional development process Meeting the requirements of the IEP/ Treatment Plan process by contributing to a data-based present level of student performance, accommodations, modifications, transitional elements as well as any additional pertinent information based on the student’s needs Integrating multi-modality instructional approaches in lesson planning and delivery to meet the diverse learning style of students in the classroom Prioritizing and promote a safe and secure environment for student learning through utilization of social emotional learning Formally and informally collaborate with Teaching Assistants, Occupation/Speech Therapists, Social Workers, Nursing, Behavior Specialists and school leaders regarding student and teacher supports

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required (Master's preferred). Connecticut Special Education Teaching Certificate required. 3 years of experience within the field of education preferred. Special education experience preferred. Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in education and a Connecticut Special Education Teaching Certificate are required. A Master's degree and three years of experience in the field of education are preferred.
