The Lead Teacher is responsible for the care, supervision, and curriculum development for children in an assigned age group. This includes managing classroom aides, conducting parent-teacher conferences, and ensuring the overall well-being and safety of the children.
Candidates must be qualified under Minnesota Rule 9503.0032 and hold a current Pediatric CPR certification. An Associate or Bachelor of Arts degree and previous experience in a childcare center are preferred.
Research and development of curriculum relevant to your classroom age group. Provide weekly plans to both the Director and the parents of the childcare program. Ensures implementation of age-appropriate curriculum to nurture and stimulate the psychosocial, cognitive and cultural needs of the children in their care. Responsible to report any concerns to director any concerns regarding staff or classroom issues. Keeps necessary attendance records, up-to-date emergency forms, curriculum plans, individual child development profile and other records as needed. Responsible to communicate with parents on child development issues, policies or other concerns related to their child. Responsible for securing health, hygiene, safety and overall well-being of children at all times. Conduct parent-teacher conferences twice per year. Complete assessments of children on an on-going basis. Maintains confidentiality of records and information of staff and families. Strict compliance with universal precautions in the classroom or/and when administering first aid. Directly supervise classroom aides and volunteers. Report all needed information to the center’s Director. Report daily needs and activities to the Director. Maintain attendance and daily meal count. Maintain daily program schedule. Supervises health and safety needs of every child. Conducts classroom and parent meetings. Keeps classroom neat and orderly. Trains and guides the assigned Assistant Teacher, Aide and/or Volunteer, involving them in activity planning and program implementation with input from supervisor.
Required Qualifications Child Development or Teacher qualified under Minnesota Rule 9503.0032 less than 1 year Current Pediatric CPR American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days
Preferred Qualifications: Associate of Arts Bachelor of Arts 1 year Two years teaching in childcare center or early childhood program
