Job Description

The Department of Language and Literature at the University of New Orleans invites applications for an Instructor of English with an expertise in Composition. This position is responsible for 12 academic units per semester (4/4), with the expectation of service. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate composition (especially corequisite Pathways classes) and literature courses offered by the Department of Language and Literature. The successful candidate should be adept at teaching in both in-person and asynchronous modalities and be strongly committed to First-Year Writing. An ability to work with our First-Year Writing Program and tutors in our Writing Center is also highly desirable. PhD in literature or composition/rhetoric Experience teaching a diverse student body Commitment to working with a dynamic writing program Salary Information Commensurate with experience, but the hiring range, depending on qualifications and experience, is approximately $42,500.
