Moraine Park Technical College is seeking part-time, as needed, instructors to perform clinical site visits within the MPTC service area for the Surgical Technology program. Individuals in this role are responsible for checking on the student, meeting with the preceptor(s)/manager to discussing student performance, addressing concerns, grading student assignments, and providing timely feedback. Candidates must have availability to work daytime hours, during the workweek. The successful candidate will have a associate degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited program and a minimum of two years (4,000 hours) of paid work experience in either an operating room scrub role, as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, that has been acquired within the past five years. Candidates must also possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and licensing and/or professional organization involvement. Prepare for and facilitate learning in the assigned courses according to the College’s core values. Establish a professional and safe learning environment. Set the classroom tone by modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior. Maintain a positive climate for learning by performing classroom management and being aware of, monitoring, and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct. Meet student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments. Maintain student confidentiality, records, and documentation as required by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Submit grades within the expected timeframe. Provide timely verbal and written feedback to the students to ensure continued growth and development. May participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and updating of curriculum. Assist with student recruitment and positively promote the College programs and services offered. Promote retention and student success through the utilization of referrals to College services and resources. Maintain ongoing relationships with K-12, Department of Corrections (DOC), community, and industry partners beyond the classroom. Actively maintain proficient knowledge and skills in emerging trends and current occupational practices. Complete annual professional development activities in areas of Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS) competencies. Complete all required training. Experience & Qualifications(in addition to those listed in the summary above): Upon hire, must maintain and/or obtain Higher Learning Commission, Faculty Quality Assurance System, and other agency requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity. Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to speak and write in English and Spanish in professional settings. Other Position Requirements: Must satisfactorily complete health screen requirements, which may include criminal and caregiver background checks, drug test and/or verification of immunizations. Flexible scheduling may be required to include evenings and weekends. This position may require teaching and/or travel to other MPTC (Moraine Park Technical College) campus locations, client/contract work sites, and/or Department of Corrections (DOC) institutions. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Hiring Range: Adjunct pay rates may vary between $39.85 - $44.25/hour based on course configuration (pending board approval).
