MountainStar Family Relief Nursery is recruiting a Preschool Promise Lead Teacher to join their team in Prineville, Oregon for the upcoming school year. Position is from Monday, August 31, 2026 through Wednesday, June 30, 2027. This is a 10-month contract with scheduled breaks. MountainStar Family Relief Nursery is a local non-profit that has been in Central Oregon for 20 plus years. We are a strength-based child abuse and neglect prevention program to support families with children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. We provide high quality trauma-informed care and services for children and families experiencing high stress. Services include a therapeutic classroom emphasizing social-emotional development, home visits, parenting classes and other full wrap around services.

Plan, organize, and facilitate a Preschool Promise classroom for up to 16 preschoolers Implement “Creative Curriculum” and complete TS Gold assessments for assigned children Serve USDA meals following family style meal service guidelines Accurate record keeping including meals and attendance Daily bus/car transportation for children (no CDL required) in various weather conditions Case Management of 7-9 children and their families, including: Culturally competent relationship/rapport building with parents At least quarterly strength-based home visits with Spanish and English-speaking families Referral assistance and crises intervention Parent coaching and education, and facilitating positive parent-child interaction Maintain records including daily observations, home visit records, family and child assessments Support other MountainStar activities - at times outside of regular hours Other duties as assigned
This is a full-time, 36-40 hours per week, hourly non- exempt position with a 10-month hourly $23.00+ per hour which increases based on education and experience, plus benefits. Bilingual pay differential available. Position starts Monday, August 31, 2026. To protect confidentiality at MtStar there is a standard procedure requiring at least a 2-year separation between being a program participant and serving as a staff member or volunteer within the organization. All staff and volunteer roles are at the discretion of MountainStar. All positions at MountainStar Family Relief Nursery are contingent upon the availability of funding.
