Are you a flexible, passionate early childhood educator who enjoys variety and making an impact across multiple classrooms? Our Head Start program is seeking a Floating Head Start Teacher to serve as a full-time substitute teacher, providing instructional leadership and classroom support at our centers in Berwick, Benton, and Bloomsburg.

In this unique role, you'll step into classrooms as needed to ensure children continue receiving the high-quality learning experiences, nurturing support, and structured environment they deserve. If you're adaptable, organized, and committed to helping young learners succeed, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do Serve as the lead teacher in classrooms throughout our Berwick, Benton, and Bloomsburg centers when regular teaching staff are absent or additional support is needed.

Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences aligned with Head Start standards and curriculum.

Conduct developmental screenings, assessments, and individualized learning activities as assigned.

Create and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that supports children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.

Build strong relationships with children, families, and staff across multiple locations.

Supervise and collaborate with teacher assistants, center aides, volunteers, interns, and student teachers.

Participate in family engagement activities, parent conferences, home visits, and classroom events as needed.

Maintain accurate child records, documentation, and required reports.

Support the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) practices throughout the program.

Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities to maintain current credentials and best practices.

Represent Head Start positively within the community and support the program's mission of serving children and families.

Requirements

Educational Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, or related Human Services field, OR Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, or related Human Services field. 2+ years of experience working with young children preferred Strong knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and regularly kneel, bend, stoop, reach, and sit on the floor while engaging with children. Must pass a physical exam and background checks. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel regularly between Berwick, Benton, and Bloomsburg locations.
