Job description

  • Adjunct Faculty World History I Department of Education and Integrative Studies UMGC Stateside Location: College Park, MD University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on-site in the History program in College Park, MD.
  • Specifically, we are seeking faculty for the following course: World History I (HIST 115): A survey of global civilization from prehistory to the 1500s.
  • The aim is to explain the impact of environmental conditions on the development of civilizations using basic geographical knowledge; describe how human contact, global connections, and migrations contribute to the development of civilizations; and compare the development of institutions (social, political, familial, cultural, and religious) to explain their impact on societal transformations.
  • Focus is on examining what history is and thinking critically about history by analyzing historical approaches and methods.
  • Required Education and Experience: A Masters degree in History or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning, doctorate preferred Professional experience in History Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred This position is designated to teach onsite at College Park, MD.
  • Materials needed for submission Resume/Curriculum Vitae Cover letter highly preferred If selected, candidates with international degrees may be required to submit a translation/degree evaluation from a NACES approved vendor.

  • Each new faculty member is required to successfully complete our online two-week new faculty orientation, FacDev 411, as a condition of hire.
