The Lead Special Education Teacher develops IEPs, plans curriculum, and implements teaching strategies for a small group of K-6 students. They collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, BCBAs, and BHPs to support student success.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education and be certified or eligible for certification in Maine. A valid driver's license and a positive attitude toward working with children are also required.
Position: Special Education Teacher Grades: K-6 Location: Kittery, Maine Schedule: Full-time, school-year position with an abbreviated summer program Salary Master’s Degree (030 or 282 Certification): $65,000-$75,000 Bachelor’s Degree (282 or 865 Certification): $58,000-$65,000 What You’ll Do As our Special Education Teacher, you will lead our special purpose private school of approximately 8-10 students while working alongside clinicians, BCBA, Behavioral Health Professionals, and other team members to create a supportive learning environment. Responsibilities include: Develop and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned with student needs Differentiate curriculum using evidence-based teaching strategies Track student progress and maintain educational documentation Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team Foster a positive, structured classroom where students can succeed academically and emotionally Qualifications Maine Special Education Certification (030, 282, or 865) or eligibility for certification Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) Passion for supporting children with diverse learning and behavioral needs Strong communication and collaboration skills Positive attitude and commitment to student success Why Join Connections for Kids?
