The Substitute Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing coverage for practices and games during the absence of the School’s two full-time Athletic Trainers as well as on days that athletics has multiple events needing coverage. In conjunction with the Athletic Trainers and the Associate Athletic Director, the Substitute Athletic Trainer is responsible for managing athletic safety and to provide athletic training services for the student-athletes.
The Athletic Trainer is expected to be a positive role model and is expected to maintain effective communication with the School community and visiting schools. This is a seasonal/on-call position where hours will not be guaranteed. Hours will be determined based on the school's needs.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Provide skilled assessment of a variety of injuries. Provide treatment of injuries, that include taping, bracing, use of modalities, and rehabilitative exercises. Provide practice and game day coverage (Monday-Saturday, including evenings, holidays) including emergency response, injury evaluation, first aid and referral to medical professionals as needed. Assist with the supervision and management of the daily operation of the athletic training room. Record injuries using Electronic Medical Recordkeeping software. Additional duties and responsibilities as needed and assigned.
NATABOC Board-certified. Masters degree or equivalent experience A minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Certified Athletic Trainer in progressively responsible roles; experience in independent schools preferred. CPR/AED Certified. Must demonstrate effective written and verbal communication to parents, coaches, healthcare providers. Must be able to properly document and track athletic injuries. Ability to work with a diverse population of high/middle school aged student athletes. Maintains a professional and responsible demeanor at all times. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, medical professionals and parents. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development for high/middle school age student athletes Salary and Benefits: This substitute/On-call position pays $69/hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
