About Us

Richland County First Steps is committed to providing high-quality early childhood education and support to families with infants and toddlers. We are looking for a dedicated Classroom Floater to join our Early Head Start team and help create a nurturing, engaging environment for children aged eight weeks to three years.

Your Role: As a Classroom Floater, you will:

Support Daily Activities

  • Assist teachers with feeding, diapering, dressing, and playtime.
  • Ensure
  • Safety and
  • Cleanliness: Maintain a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate classroom and outdoor environment.
  • Engage with
  • Parents: Encourage parental involvement and assist with parent conferences and home visits.
  • Implement
  • Lesson
  • Plans: Help execute weekly lesson plans and assess children's development.
  • Maintain
  • Compliance: Follow Head Start, First Steps, DSS, DHEC, and CACFP standards and regulations.
  • Document
  • Accurately: Complete required paperwork and documentation.

What We’re Looking For

Education: Infant-Toddler CDA credential, ECD 101 completion, or a related course is preferred.

Experience

Experience working with infants, toddlers, and diverse families.

Skills

  • Knowledge of child development, effective communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Curriculum
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers, and Twos.

Clearance

Ability to pass criminal and background checks.

Physical Requirements

Lift up to 40 pounds. Regularly kneel, bend, and sit/squat on the floor.
