A Substitute Teacher primary responsibility is to provide support to Early Childhood classroom teachers and teaching assistants. The purpose of the role is to support the daily operations of running the classroom in the absence of a regular classroom teacher. Essential Duties Monitoring children's indoor and outdoor activities and responding to children's needs in a positive and courteous manner in a variety of classrooms Manage a group of children between the ages of 13 months and 5 years old, and participate in small group activities, under the supervision of lead and assistant teachers. Maintaining a clean and safe environment throughout the classroom while following all school procedures and regulations. Must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults. It is essential that he/she has the personality and ability to provide warmth, leadership, and stability for program continuity. Lead by example; follow all NOJCC policies and procedures as defined in the NOJCC Handbook and as directed by Agency leadership. Qualifications Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Demonstrated experience working with children in a classroom/camp setting Must be flexible and comfortable working with a variety of classroom educators Must be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary childcare and classroom management skills Ability to work independently and to carry out requests within the parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practice Lead by example; follow all NOJCC policies and procedures as defined in the NOJCC Handbook and as directed by Agency leadership. Basic awareness of Judaism and Jewish cultural norms and traditions.
