The teacher is responsible for supervising children, implementing lesson plans, and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for emotional and physical growth. They must maintain professional communication with parents and adhere to DHS regulations and center policies.
Candidates must be able to provide age-appropriate care and maintain a developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Required duties include obtaining necessary certifications and performing daily housekeeping tasks.
Summary The Learning Center teacher is responsible for maintaining supervision of children during daily activities, encouraging participation while ensuring the safety of the child. Coordinates daily activities and carries out lesson plans focused on nurturing the child’s emotional, physical, and mental growth. Responsible for following all DHS regulations, Freeman Learning Center policies and procedures. Maintains a safe environment for children and staff. Communicates respectfully and appropriately with children based on age and development stage. Communicates effectively with parent/legal guardian about his/her child. Attends and obtains required training and certifications appropriate for position Essential Functions: Provides supervision of children during daily activities, encouraging participation, ensuring safety, and providing counseling as needed. Uses appropriate, positive interaction when disciplinary issues arise. Encourages problem solving, self-control, and the use of consequences. Maintains a professional relationship with co-workers, parents and children through communication Provides each child's parent/legal guardian with daily, written communication using Daily Observation Forms Maintains a classroom environment that is age and developmentally appropriate, including well-defined interest centers and a current bulletin board, while taking consideration for children with special needs Provides a well-balanced schedule, alternating active and quiet, small, large, and individualized activities Interacts with children in a nurturing and friendly manner- including respect, controlling tone, making eye contact, and appropriate touch Assisting Master teachers carrying out the functions of their daily curriculum. Performs daily housekeeping duties, such as sweeping, vacuuming, sanitizing toys, etc...
