Job description

Summary

A Teacher at Northside Christian School is responsible for providing high-quality instruction that supports the academic, spiritual, and personal development of students. The teacher integrates a biblical worldview into all areas of instruction, fosters a Christ-centered classroom culture, and partners with families to support student growth. This position requires a commitment to excellence in teaching, a heart for discipleship, and a dedication to the mission of Northside Christian School.

Schedule

This is a full-time position following the school calendar, including required faculty meetings, professional development days, and school events.

1. Typical hours of Monday through Friday; 7: 30am to 3:30pm

2. Required to work all in-service days and abide by PTO Blackout dates set each year

3. Required to attend events outside of normal school hours on occasion

Essential Responsibilities: Instruction & Curriculum

1. Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and academic standards.

2. Integrate a biblical worldview throughout instruction and classroom discussions.

3. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.

4. Assess student learning through formative and summative evaluations.

5. Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students.

6. Maintain accurate records of grades, assignments, and attendance.

Classroom Environment

1. Create a safe, orderly, and Christ-centered learning environment.

2. Establish clear classroom expectations and consistent discipline practices.

3. Encourage student responsibility, respect, and integrity.

4. Promote positive student relationships and collaboration.

Communication & Partnership with Families

1. Maintain open and professional communication with parents regarding student progress and concerns.

2. Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events.

3. Work collaboratively with administration and fellow teachers to support student success.

Professional Responsibilities

1. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school functions.

2. Maintain lesson plans and instructional materials.

3. Follow all school policies and procedures.

4. Demonstrate professionalism in interactions with students, families, and staff.

Faith Integration & Spiritual Leadership

As NCS is a ministry, teachers are expected to intentionally integrate faith and learning while modeling Christ-like character in all aspects of life in and out of school.

Biblical Integration in Instruction

1. Intentionally incorporate biblical truth and a Christian worldview into lesson planning, classroom instruction, and student discussions.

2. Help students understand how academic subjects relate to God’s truth and His design for the world.

3. Encourage critical thinking through the lens of scripture and biblical principles.

Spiritual Formation of Students

1. Lead students in prayer, devotions, and age-appropriate biblical discussions.

2. Encourage students to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

3. Foster spiritual growth by modeling humility, grace, accountability, and servant leadership.

Christian Role Modeling

1. Demonstrate Christ-like attitudes, speech, and actions in interactions with students, families, and colleagues.

2. Maintain a lifestyle that reflects biblical values consistent with the school’s doctrinal statement and mission.

3. Provide mentorship and encouragement to students in both academic and spiritual matters.

Partnership in the School’s Ministry

1. Support the mission of the school by participating in chapel services, spiritual emphasis activities, and community prayer when applicable.

2. Collaborate with administration and fellow faculty to cultivate a Christ-centered school culture.

3. Encourage students to use their gifts and abilities for service to others and for God’s glory.

Qualifications

Education

1. Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required for specific teaching assignment.

2. ACSI certification required

3. State teaching certification preferred

Experience

1. Previous teaching experience preferred.

2. Experience in Christian education is highly valued.

Spiritual

1. A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ.

2. Commitment to living a life consistent with biblical principles.

3. Agreement with the school’s doctrinal statement.

4. In person attendance and active participation in a local Bible believing church.
