The YWCA Greater Harrisburg is seeking a Lead Teacher for our Pre-K Counts program. The Lead Teacher is responsible for fostering a collaborative and cohesive teaching team while overseeing curriculum implementation and the daily operations of the classroom. This role requires a strong understanding of children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. The Lead Teacher encourages active participation, supports each child's individual growth, and promotes school readiness by inspiring curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning.
Full Time - M-F, 9am - 5pm School Year Position - August through June Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that promote learning through play and exploration. Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment that supports each child's individual growth and development. Implement curriculum, assess children's progress, and tailor learning experiences to meet diverse developmental needs. Build positive partnerships with families through regular communication and collaboration. Maintain accurate student records and documentation. Collaborate with colleagues, families, and community partners to support children's success. Mentor and support classroom staff while modeling best practices in early childhood education. Provide classroom coverage as needed. Position Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education Pennsylvania Certification in Early Childhood Education Pk-3 Minimum of two (2) years experience working with diverse groups of young children. Thorough understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods. Ability to be mentally alert and observant at all times when responsible for children. Ability to speak and read clearly to communicate easily with children under care with knowledge of language development and understanding.
