Summary: The Field Athletic Trainer provides services to scholastic athletes within an assigned school district program of care for all applicable sporting events, in school and game locations.

Essential
Duties: Schedules and coordinates athletic activities calendar and treatments for efficient use of time. Displays excellent internal and external customer service. Meets goals of the NATA for athletic health care in a secondary school setting including criteria for certification and continuing education units. Carries out supervisory tasks as assigned by management with regard to the management of the outreach athletic healthcare department. Prepares daily athletic training responsibilities for athletic health care as stated in standards of practice for certified athletic trainers. Provides monthly and seasonal reports for injury tracking, physician referral, and rehabilitation utilization. Implements treatment plans that incorporate therapeutic exercise, modalities, and athletic conditioning as deemed necessary by treating physician or standing medical orders. Provides athletic health care coverage of assigned pre-season physicals, sports games or matches, and related events under the supervision of the secondary school’s athletic director. Promptly begins work assignments after receiving instructions in accordance with established policy with the ability to perform in an independent manner with minimal supervision. Determines athlete's physical readiness to participate. Implements pre-season, in-season and post-season strength and conditioning programs. Works confidently in crisis or emergency situation particularly with recognition of trauma, pathomechanics, psychological issues, and metabolic failure. Demonstrates knowledge of safety practices and use of athletic training equipment safely and efficiently. Informs athlete and families of important aspects of athletes present conditions including concussion, wound care, first aid, and follow-up care. Works effectively with team physician in sports coverage setting when appropriate. Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree required (graduate of an approved, accredited athletic training education program as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine); master's degree preferred. Actively certified by the Pennsylvania Board of Medical Examiners; Actively certified by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association Board of Certification (NATABOC), current CPR Certification. Minimum of two (2) years working under the supervision of NATA-approved trainers or equivalent years’ experience in a professional ATC position. Salary Range
